Carlos Alcaraz has ended his coaching partnership with Juan Carlos Ferrero after working together for seven years. Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when he was just 15 years old and played a pivotal role in his development into a successful player.
During their collaboration, Alcaraz achieved significant milestones, including winning six Grand Slam titles, attaining the top ranking in the world, and securing an Olympic silver medal. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion himself, played an instrumental role in Alcaraz’s journey to success.
The decision to part ways was announced shortly after Ferrero and Samuel Lopez were honored with the 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award for their exceptional coaching efforts with Alcaraz. This marked Ferrero’s second time receiving the prestigious award since its establishment in 2016.
Alcaraz took to social media to share the news of their separation, expressing gratitude for the transformative experience of working with Ferrero. In his heartfelt post, Alcaraz reflected on their shared journey from his early beginnings to reaching the pinnacle of success in the sport.
Similarly, Ferrero also posted a touching message on Instagram, reminiscing about the valuable moments shared with Alcaraz throughout their partnership. He expressed appreciation for the collaboration, growth, and unforgettable experiences they had together.
Although the reason behind Ferrero’s departure from Alcaraz’s coaching team remains undisclosed, it is known that Alcaraz continues to receive coaching from Samuel Lopez, who is based at Ferrero’s academy in Alicante. Both Alcaraz and Ferrero have not elaborated on the specifics of the coaching transition.
