Amazon has launched its own rapid grocery delivery service, promising deliveries in less than 30 minutes. Customers can select from a wide range of groceries and household items, including essentials like milk, eggs, diapers, and medicines.
This move puts Amazon in direct competition with supermarkets that already collaborate with delivery services offering similar ultra-fast delivery options. Last September, Amazon announced the closure of all its Amazon Fresh grocery stores, leading to the introduction of the new Amazon Now service.
Currently being trialed in selected London postcodes, the service employs bike riders sourced through Amazon Flex. According to John Boumphrey, Amazon UK’s country manager, Amazon Now offers unparalleled speed and convenience to customers, ensuring swift delivery of thousands of products within half an hour.
Amazon’s decision to introduce ultra-fast deliveries follows its partnership with Gopuff last July. Prime members can enjoy discounted delivery fees starting from £1.99 per order, with non-Prime members paying £3.99. Additionally, a £2 fee applies to orders below £15 regardless of membership status.
The company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience through faster and more affordable shopping continues as it explores ways to streamline its online delivery services. Amazon’s focus on online delivery services intensified after the closure of its physical grocery stores in the UK. The company remains dedicated to evolving its online grocery and household essentials offering, reflecting a growing segment of its UK operations.
