Tyson Fury has unveiled his trio of desired opponents for his upcoming boxing comeback, with Anthony Joshua high on the list.
The ‘Gypsy King’ had previously declared his retirement last January following losses to Oleksandr Usyk but has now reversed that decision. Recent months have shown Fury intensifying his training efforts, currently honing his skills in Thailand in preparation for a significant return to the ring.
At 37, Fury has been training alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena and has been vocal about potential rivals. Since his defeat to Usyk in December 2024, Fury has been eager for a rematch with his long-time competitor.
In addition to Usyk, the former two-time heavyweight champion is eyeing matches with fellow Brits Joshua and Fabio Wardley. A recent Instagram post by Fury depicted him facing off against the three aforementioned heavyweight contenders.
Amidst speculations, Fury hinted at a potential bout with Wardley, expressing interest in a match later in 2026. Wardley made headlines with a sensational knockout victory over Joseph Parker to claim the WBO interim title last October, ultimately being promoted to full champion after Usyk’s title vacation.
Although a trilogy fight with Usyk seems unlikely as per the Ukrainian’s advisor, fans are eager for a showdown between Fury and Joshua. Plans for a summer showdown between the two were in motion, but uncertainties arose after Joshua’s involvement in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, resulting in the loss of two close friends.
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding a Fury-Joshua bout, suggesting a potential delay until late 2026 due to the recent events. Warren emphasized the impact of the tragedy on Joshua, highlighting that boxing may not be a priority for him at the moment.
