Donald Trump issued a series of Presidential pardons today, deviating from his usual pattern of favoring Republican allies, cryptocurrency magnates, wrongdoers, or participants in the January 6th insurrection.

During the pardon ceremony, Trump cracked a series of inappropriate jokes while granting clemency to the fortunate individual.

In anticipation of Thanksgiving, the President adhered to the customary practice of pardoning two turkeys, symbolically sparing them from becoming holiday meals. This year’s recipients, named Waddle and Gobble, were granted immunity, although Waddle was notably absent from the event without explanation.

Addressing Gobble directly, Trump declared, “You are officially pardoned,” in a supposedly heartwarming gesture before attempting to pet the plump bird, which led to an unexpected shift in the atmosphere.

Throughout the event, Trump made jests about a notorious prison, directed jabs at Joe Biden, disparaged the Governor of Illinois, and misrepresented crime statistics. Despite boasting about deploying the National Guard to Washington DC and asserting that no murders had occurred in the capital for six months, official records indicate 61 homicides.

Expressing frustration over being prevented from taking similar actions in Chicago, Trump publicly criticized Governor Pritzker, referring to him as a “big fat slob” and urging him to improve his performance.

In a lighthearted moment, Trump suggested that instead of granting clemency to the turkeys, they should be sent to CECOT, a controversial torture facility in El Salvador, drawing parallels to a past incident involving an innocent detainee.

In a final jest, Trump hinted at political figures by jokingly considering naming the turkeys Chuck and Nancy, referring to prominent Democratic leaders, but ultimately rejecting the idea, claiming he would never pardon them, regardless of advice from his wife, Melania.

Adding a touch of humor, Trump mocked his predecessor, Joe Biden, for using an “autopen” to issue last year’s turkey pardons, humorously revoking the validity of those previous pardons.
