Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. The plans aim to compete with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. The basic plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, providing features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts, custom activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud storage.

For enhanced security, customers can opt for the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ at £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes. Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s focus on making quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly for customers.

Previously, Sky primarily offered Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms. With these new standalone smart home plans, Sky aims to broaden the availability of its home security devices. In comparison, Amazon sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, plus additional costs for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
