Vodafone Launches AI-Powered Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams

Rogue phone calls have become a common nuisance for smartphone users, with reports revealing that the average UK consumer faces around eight scam calls monthly. These fraudulent calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for illicit purposes.

In a move to safeguard its customers, Vodafone has introduced a new feature called Scam Call Protection. This innovative service utilizes artificial intelligence to detect and flag potential scam, spam, and nuisance calls, providing enhanced security against fraudulent activities.

Operating discreetly in the background, the system scrutinizes all incoming calls. Should any suspicious activity be detected, users will receive a prompt on-screen notification warning them of a possible scam call.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, highlighted the increasing sophistication of scam calls, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant. The Scam Call Protection service on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers customers an added layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and identifying known or suspected scam calls.

This initiative is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes features such as advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.

For those interested in trying out the service, a three-month free trial is available, following which the subscription is priced at £2 per month.
