A young mother was fatally shot while pushing her child in a stroller in Rio de Janeiro, leading to the arrest of a woman accused of orchestrating the murder to gain custody of the victim’s daughter. The suspect, Gabrielle Cristine Pinheiro Rosário, surrendered to the police nearly two weeks after the incident.
Authorities in Sepetiba revealed that the motive behind the murder was a custody dispute over the victim’s four-year-old daughter. It was alleged that Rosário, 25, had hired two individuals to carry out the shooting on a city street on November 4.
Following Rosário’s arrest, a police spokesperson confirmed the strong evidence linking her to the crime, including witness testimonies and digital evidence from cell phones. The suspect’s lawyer denied any knowledge of the arrested individuals connected to the murder plot.
Police investigations uncovered Rosário’s concerning behavior towards the child, supported by text messages linking her to the hired men and knowledge of the victim’s whereabouts before the shooting. The men involved were apprehended, with one being identified by his own mother. The victim, Laís de Oliveira Gomes Pereira, is remembered as a loving and dedicated mother to her two children.
In a separate case, adult film star Devyn Michaels was found guilty of murdering her ex-husband, who was discovered decapitated and covered in chemicals at his residence. Prosecutors revealed that Michaels, driven by jealousy after losing custody of their children, carried out the gruesome act. During her trial, crime-scene photos and video evidence of the murder were presented, detailing the chilling circumstances of the crime.
