CBC has secured an expanded presence in Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast deal that will offer increased coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches across its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A significant aspect of the agreement for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC TV and CBC Gem, while selected matches will also be broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League features six mixed-gender franchises comprising curlers from various countries. The upcoming second season will showcase events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
Moreover, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling, with Sportsnet remaining the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events starting in October. Viewers can expect three draws each day from Tuesday to Friday, followed by CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Sportsnet will air the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also broadcasting select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel as usual.
This new deal builds on CBC’s extensive history of covering curling and enhances its presence during major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.
