Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed her frustration with receiving unsolicited beauty advice in a recent Instagram post. Frederiksen, who had just returned from a trip to Ukraine, where she experienced air raid sirens due to the ongoing conflict, shared that she often receives messages critiquing her appearance, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a “wart” on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox.
She posted a screenshot of a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose without revealing the surgeon’s identity. Frederiksen responded by affirming her satisfaction with her body and asserting that she does not require unsolicited opinions from a male plastic surgeon.
As the second female prime minister of Denmark, Frederiksen is currently serving her third term and is one of the longest-tenured leaders in Europe. She has taken a firm stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of Denmark, and has shown support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
On Instagram, Frederiksen emphasized her acceptance of her body as she approaches the age of 50 and urged individuals to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on her physical appearance. She expressed feeling indignant about the unsolicited beauty advice and sent a message of solidarity to those who also face pressure to conform to unrealistic beauty standards.
Additionally, Frederiksen highlighted the importance of discussing more substantive topics rather than fixating on superficial aspects, such as her nose.
