Video footage has surfaced showing Anthony Joshua exiting a vehicle involved in a crash that resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Nigeria.
The incident occurred when the former heavyweight champion’s Jeep collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Nigeria, where his parents are from. Joshua had been in the country following his recent victory over Jake Paul in the boxing ring.
Reports indicate that Joshua, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries. He has been taken to a hospital for treatment while local authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
Eyewitnesses at the scene, including Adeniyi Orojo, described the sequence of events to the media, revealing that the vehicle carrying Joshua swerved into the truck after a tire blowout, causing the fatal accident.
In a video that has emerged online, Joshua can be seen being assisted out of the vehicle, visibly in pain from the crash.
Reflecting on the incident, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, mentioned that Joshua was en route to the hospital following the crash but had no further details to share as he was informed while on vacation.
