A train carrying an estimated 150 passengers derailed in Germany, prompting a large-scale rescue effort. The incident occurred on the Augsburg – Buchloe – Füssen line near the Weizern-Hopferau station on Saturday afternoon. The train, originating from Augsburg, derailed while being switched to another track during its journey. The cause of the derailment remains unknown, with authorities yet to determine the reason behind the train leaving the tracks.

Emergency services quickly responded to evacuate all 150 passengers from the affected train cars. Despite the complexity of the operation and the significant disruption, there were no reports of serious injuries. Bavarian Regional Railway (BRB) confirmed the closure of the railway line post-incident, cautioning that the closure could be prolonged. Efforts to lift the derailed train back onto the tracks were initially anticipated for Sunday, but assessment of the damage is ongoing before further action can be taken.
