An astonishing Ukrainian girl, aged six, continues to dance despite being injured in a Russian missile attack. Elina Zhukova, from Sumy, Ukraine, was seen rehearsing for a performance at her dance school, which lacks basic amenities due to ongoing attacks by Russian forces. Prior to the conflict, the ballet school had 120 students, but now only 30 remain as the city endures relentless bombardment.

Elina courageously dances with fragments of the missile embedded in her body, unsure if they can be safely removed. She was riding a scooter with her family when two Iskander missiles struck Sumy, resulting in casualties and injuries. Elina suffered serious wounds, including one fragment piercing her shoulder and lung, requiring multiple surgeries. Tragically, she also lost her stepfather in a separate airstrike during the war.

Despite her hardships, Elina finds solace in ballet lessons, aiding in her recovery. The young girl still faces challenges from the missile fragments but has shown improvement in her coordination. Meanwhile, political tensions persist, with Donald Trump proposing a controversial 28-point plan to end the conflict, which includes territorial concessions by Ukraine to Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledges the difficult choice his country faces in balancing sovereignty with international support.

Elina’s resilience amid adversity serves as a poignant reminder of the toll of war on civilian populations, contrasting with the protected lives of political figures’ families.
