Former senior Tory member Jonathan Gullis, known for criticizing the quality of Reform UK candidates, has switched allegiance to Reform party. Gullis, who had a public dispute with Richard Tice, Farage’s deputy, over the candidate quality issue, has now joined the ranks of Nigel Farage’s party.
The conflict between Gullis and Tice arose when Gullis mocked Reform UK for fielding candidates with questionable backgrounds, including a convicted animal abuser and a fortune-teller. Tice responded to Gullis with a controversial tweet hinting at personal information he possessed about Gullis.
Despite his previous criticisms, Gullis has now embraced Reform UK, expressing disillusionment with the Conservative Party after 18 years of membership. He cited grievances with the Conservative Party’s handling of migration issues, energy policies leading to increased household bills, and threats to job security in Stoke-on-Trent’s ceramics industry, which, he believes, have eroded public trust in the party.
