In recent times, President Donald Trump has engaged in multiple confrontations with journalists, often resorting to insults and displaying frustration when questioned by the press. Female reporters have frequently borne the brunt of his outbursts as they fulfill their journalistic duties.

A recent incident on Air Force One involved two female journalists questioning Trump about an MRI scan he underwent, to which he claimed ignorance about the specific body part scanned. Trump reacted defensively, directing his anger towards the journalists, amidst growing concerns about his health status.

From derogatory remarks like calling a reporter ‘Piggy’ to labeling another as ‘Ugly’ and criticizing media outlets collectively, the US President has not shied away from attacking the press. Concurrently, the White House has launched a new website that criticizes and targets the media.

During an Air Force One press gathering known as a ‘gaggle,’ Trump insulted Bloomberg’s White House Correspondent, Catherine Lucey, by referring to her as ‘Piggy.’ Lucey had inquired about Epstein-related matters, highlighting uncertainties around the release of Epstein files and questioning Trump’s involvement.

Trump’s offensive behavior extended to other female journalists, with instances of him or his aides using derogatory language towards them. The insults, often based on appearance, have been criticized as gendered attacks aimed at silencing women in journalism.

The President’s pattern of attacking news networks perceived as adversarial was evident when he suggested revoking ABC News’ license following discomforting questions from one of its journalists during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Furthermore, Trump’s disparagement of New York Times journalist Katie Rogers, branding her as ‘ugly, both inside and out,’ drew attention to his ongoing feud with the media. Despite criticism, the White House has defended Trump’s controversial remarks as a display of transparency and candidness.

Under the Trump administration, the White House has escalated its assault on the free press by launching a website that identifies media outlets deemed biased. The site features a “tracker” section, naming and shaming news organizations, along with an “offender hall of shame” and a “leaderboard” ranking critical entities.

Additionally, the website includes a database categorizing articles with labels like “bias” and “left-wing lunacy,” further fueling Trump’s contentious relationship with the US media. This initiative marks a significant step in Trump’s ongoing battle against critical journalism, which has involved restricting access to journalists and pursuing legal actions against the press.
