EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing prevalence of scams targeting mobile users. The upgrade, priced at £2 per month for EE pay-monthly customers, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats, including phishing attempts and scam messages.
Since its inception in 2024, Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attacks. With the new upgrade, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year.
The core of the upgraded Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, a set of digital security measures powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. This includes Safe Email for proactive email scam protection, Safe SMS for detecting fraudulent text messages in real-time, and Safe Web to block malicious websites during online activities.
Additionally, the new Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to seek advice on the safety of various online content by uploading screenshots. It also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring to alert users of any suspicious online activities promptly.
Malcolm Cubitt, EE’s Director of Product for Mobile, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving fraud threats. He highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cyber security measures to safeguard customers against sophisticated scams and reiterated the company’s dedication to leveraging innovative technologies for customer protection.
