Nigel Farage faces criticism for expressing his deep admiration for the controversial figure Enoch Powell, known for his divisive “Rivers of Blood” speech. The leader of Reform UK sparked outrage at Dulwich College with his strong support of Powell, a former Conservative MP who was removed from his position in the shadow cabinet after the infamous speech in 1968.

Farage, reflecting on his school days, revealed his fascination with Powell, stating that he was captivated by him as a young student. However, these revelations have drawn condemnation from various individuals, including Labour peer Baroness Luciana Berger, who condemned Farage’s dismissal of allegations of racist and anti-Semitic behavior during his youth.

The scrutiny on Farage’s past has intensified as former classmates allege disturbing incidents, including making pro-Hitler comments, joking about gas chambers, and discriminatory actions based on skin color. These accounts have raised concerns about Farage’s associations and beliefs, particularly given his history of admiration for Powell and attempts to seek his support in political endeavors.

Despite denials from a spokesperson for Reform UK, the allegations from ex-classmates paint a troubling picture of Farage’s behavior during his school years. While Farage insists that these incidents occurred nearly five decades ago and denies engaging in intentional racial abuse, questions persist about his past actions and their implications for his current political stance.
