In a heartwarming display of courage and selflessness, a football enthusiast raised an impressive sum of more than £260,000 for charity through the sale of samosas. Another touching story features a mother who fearlessly plunged into the sea to rescue a 10-year-old boy from drowning. Additionally, the remarkable journey of a five-year-old girl who, despite losing both legs, exhibited incredible resilience and strength to rebuild her life was honored at the prestigious 2024 Pride of Britain Awards.

Handpicked from a vast pool of nominations, these ordinary individuals who showcased extraordinary bravery and kindness were recognized at a grand ceremony in London, hosted by Ashley Banjo and Carol Vorderman. Adding to the memorable evening, P&O Cruises, the new headline sponsor of the awards, surprised each of the 12 deserving winners with a cruise holiday, providing them with an opportunity to create lasting memories with their loved ones.

Following the awards, we caught up with three of the winners who embarked on a 14-night Caribbean voyage aboard the luxurious Britannia cruise ship. This unforgettable journey allowed them to explore eight picturesque islands and indulge in world-class entertainment offerings.

Aiyla Mota, a young recipient of the Child of Courage award, demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of adversity. Having battled sepsis at a tender age, which led to the amputation of her legs and fingers, Aiyla, now five, has shown incredible strength and positivity, earning her a place among the youngest-ever Pride of Britain winners. Her mother, Eulanda, shared how Aiyla’s resilience and vivacious personality have been a source of inspiration to all around her.

Emily Greenwood, recognized for her outstanding bravery, recounted a harrowing incident where she bravely rescued a boy caught in a riptide while out on a walk with her son. Despite the challenging circumstances, Emily’s quick thinking and courage saved the day, earning her a well-deserved Pride of Britain Award. The recognition also came with the opportunity for her and her family to embark on a dream Caribbean cruise, offering them a well-deserved break.

Manny Singh Kang, the recipient of the ITV Fundraiser of the Year award, has been a beacon of hope through his innovative fundraising efforts for Dementia UK. His dedication to raising awareness and funds for the cause has had a significant impact, with his samosa sales and charity events raising a substantial sum. As a token of appreciation, P&O Cruises treated Manny and his family to a Caribbean cruise, providing them with a memorable experience filled with breathtaking island views and unparalleled hospitality.
