Authorities from the National Crime Agency (NCA) have apprehended a man in Liverpool suspected of sexually assaulting a child in France.
The individual, identified as Sujanth Ketheeswararasa, a 30-year-old Sri Lankan national, was captured in Liverpool city center by the NCA’s National Extradition Unit following an inquiry that led to his location. Allegedly, Ketheeswararasa is facing accusations of assaulting a young girl in France and is being sought by the French authorities.
Expressing the NCA’s commitment to safeguarding children from sexual exploitation, Clare Meehan from the NCA’s Joint International Crime Centre stated, “There is no higher priority for the NCA than ensuring the safety of children from sexual abuse. Through collaboration with domestic and international partners, we successfully traced and apprehended the suspect.”
Following his arrest, Ketheeswararasa appeared in a London court on Thursday and was detained in custody pending the commencement of extradition procedures. The 30-year-old is scheduled to virtually attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 27.
A full extradition hearing is set for March 26, 2026.
