A woman is accused of cutting her daughter’s stomach to take her unborn son before attaching her body to a pick-up truck and driving away. Shocking details have surfaced in the case of Rebecca Park, 22, with her biological mother, Cortney Bartholomew, 40, implicated in the gruesome act. According to an arrest affidavit, Cortney and her husband, Bradly Bartholomew, 47, allegedly conspired to kill Rebecca and extract her unborn child.
Cortney reportedly threatened her daughter, stating, “Your baby is gonna die,” as per arrest documents. Bradly, a registered sex offender, is said to have then stabbed Rebecca multiple times inside or near the pick-up truck on a hiking trail.
Authorities revealed that the couple, residing in northern Michigan, had planned a vengeful assault due to Cortney’s prior relationship with Rebecca’s fiancé, Richard Falor, who had allegedly caused Bradly to be incarcerated. Cortney admitted to cutting the baby out in an attempt to save him and take him to Richard.
During the horrifying incident, Cortney instructed Rebecca to lie back while Bradly held a knife to her throat, the document detailed. Subsequently, Bradly purportedly slit Rebecca’s throat before using a cord to drag her body away from the scene.
Cortney confessed to law enforcement that Bradly disposed of the fetus in a trash bag and placed the unborn child in a small cooler before discarding it in a dumpster. Rebecca’s remains were discovered on November 25.
Deputy Jacob Koponen noted that Rebecca’s abdomen showed signs of being cut open, and an autopsy confirmed she had sustained several wounds. Witnesses reported seeing Rebecca entering a dark-colored vehicle near her mother’s residence, and her phone was later found abandoned nearby. Richard was arrested on the day Rebecca’s body was found, while her sister was also taken into custody the following day on various charges.
The Bartholomews were arrested and charged with murder, torture, conspiracy to commit torture, and assault on a pregnant individual on December 1. Initially, the pair denied involvement but later reportedly accused each other during police interrogations.
