In the Kawartha Lakes region, search and rescue teams have located a plane where a pilot was reported missing after a recent flight. The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), responsible for coordinating search and rescue missions in Ontario, announced on social media that the aircraft was discovered on Wolf Lake within Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, situated approximately a 45-minute drive north of Kawartha Lakes.
The case has been handed over to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a missing person’s investigation, as confirmed by JRCC. The identity of the missing 73-year-old pilot known as David has not been explicitly disclosed by the authorities.
According to details provided by Durham police, David departed from Oshawa Airport in the plane around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, with an anticipated return by 9:30 a.m. It was noted that his usual flight path encompasses the area south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog.
The Ontario Provincial Police had previously described the missing aircraft as a small blue homemade plane with the tail marked with “FOFZ.” David, an experienced pilot, is described as being five feet seven inches tall with a slender physique, black grey hair, and a moustache.
