There were alerts about an individual causing fear at a military facility, prompting a directive for individuals to remain indoors. The Hinesville Police Department had informed local outlets that a lockdown had been implemented at Fort Stewart in Georgia due to an individual causing fear in a residential area. The Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield made a social media announcement stating that a shelter in place order was in effect on the base due to an ongoing situation in the housing region, with law enforcement present and urging individuals to stay indoors.
Shortly after, the military base shared on social media that the shelter-in-place directive had been lifted but advised people to steer clear of the Bryan Village area due to a continuing situation. Officials from Fort Stewart later confirmed that the incident was restricted to Ardennes Court within the base premises. Law enforcement had responded to an incident involving a distressed soldier around 4:38 pm local time (9:38 pm GMT), as reported by local news outlet WTOC. It was clarified that there was no actual gunfire involved in the incident.
