The campus of Kentucky State University has been placed on lockdown due to reports of an active assailant. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his thoughts, urging for prayers for those impacted by the tragic event. Kentucky State University assured its students that there is no immediate threat to the campus community. The university officials confirmed that two students were shot near the Whitney M. Young Jr. Hall, located on the southern side of the campus.

According to Frankfort Assistant Chief of Police Scott Tracy, the shooting took place at Young Hall on the university campus, injuring two individuals.
