One individual has passed away, and another is in critical condition after a shooting incident occurred at a university campus in the United States. The campus of Kentucky State University has been placed on lockdown due to reports of an active assailant. The Frankfort Police Department announced that the campus will remain locked down until further updates are provided by the department and university.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his thoughts, urging for prayers for those impacted by the tragic event. Kentucky State University assured its students that there is no immediate threat to the campus community. The university officials confirmed that two students were shot near the Whitney M. Young Jr. Hall, located on the southern side of the campus.
Regrettably, one person has lost their life, and another has been wounded following the shooting at Kentucky State University, as reported by WSMV. The university, situated in Frankfort, Kentucky, caters to over 2,200 students and employs 450 faculty and staff members.
According to Frankfort Assistant Chief of Police Scott Tracy, the shooting took place at Young Hall on the university campus, injuring two individuals. Governor Beshear acknowledged the incident on social media, stating that law enforcement is present at the scene, and a suspect has been apprehended.
The Frankfort Police Department confirmed that they responded to the incident involving an active aggressor at Kentucky State University. They, along with campus police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, have detained a suspect and secured the campus. The lockdown remains in effect until further updates are provided by the authorities.
