EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers free electricity on Sundays in exchange for reducing their weekday peak electricity consumption, which typically occurs between 4pm and 7pm. Participants can earn between four and 16 hours of complimentary electricity on the following Sundays by shifting their energy usage away from peak hours. EDF customers with smart meters can enroll in the challenge until February 1.

The energy company reports that more than 260,000 households have benefited from over 17 million free hours of electricity through the Sunday Saver initiative, resulting in £5.2 million in credited savings on customers’ bills. In February, customers can expect four Sunday Saver challenges on February 15, 22, and March 1 and 8.

Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has reaped the benefits of the Sunday Saver challenge, accumulating over 680 free hours of electricity by altering her family’s energy usage habits. EDF aims to assist customers in reducing their energy costs during the winter months through initiatives like Sunday Saver, enabling households to monitor and optimize their electricity consumption through the Energy Hub platform.

Additionally, EDF is incentivizing new and existing customers to sign up for its electric vehicle tariffs by offering a £50 credit. These tariffs, including GoElectric, Pod Point EV Exclusive, Evolve, and Pod Point Plug & Power, grant users five hours of discounted electricity nightly between 12am and 5am for both home and electric vehicle charging. Users can track their Sunday Saver progress and manage their energy consumption through the Energy Hub on MyAccount.
