An elderly man passed away 20 days after being robbed while withdrawing money from a cash machine in north London. The victim, Jalal Khan, 76, sustained a serious head injury during the ambush on October 30. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, November 19. Jalal, known for his kindness and peaceful nature, resided near the post office on High Street in Ponders End, where the incident occurred.

According to a police statement, officers responded to a robbery and assault report on High Street in Ponders End. Jalal Khan was found with head injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Regrettably, he passed away on November 19. The family of the deceased is receiving support from specialized officers and has requested privacy during this challenging period.

Witnesses reported that Jalal was targeted while using the cash machine outside the post office. He was a familiar and well-liked figure in the community, known for his amiable demeanor. The local community expressed shock and sadness over the incident, with many describing Jalal as a gentle and respected individual.

Rasel Alam, the owner of the Enfield Food Hall, paid tribute to Jalal, highlighting his kindness and peaceful nature. The community mourns the loss of Jalal, who was an active member of the local mosque and a friend to many.

Neighbors described Jalal as a kind and exemplary neighbor, expressing disbelief that such a tragic event could occur in close proximity to his home. The police have gathered CCTV and doorbell camera footage from the vicinity of the crime scene. A suspect, Jaesis Boatswain, has been charged with multiple offenses related to the incident and is currently in custody awaiting trial.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the police or provide anonymous tips through Crimestoppers. The case is set to proceed to Wood Green Crown Court for further legal proceedings.
