In her first appearance for Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne scored twice as the Rise triumphed 5-1 over Ottawa Rapid in Northern Super League action at TD Place on Saturday. The Rise dominated the second half with four goals, including strikes from Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes from a penalty shot. Elise Bell managed to score for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, preventing Jessica Wulf from securing a shutout.
Following this victory, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, surpassing Halifax Tide by one point. Their record now stands at seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points. Meanwhile, the Rapid remains at the top of the table with 33 points, holding a three-point lead over the Montreal Roses, with a record of 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.
During the match, Vancouver had a slight advantage in possession at 53% compared to 47% for Ottawa, and outshot the hosts 17-8, with 11 shots on target against Ottawa’s three. The Rise also managed to secure four out of the seven corners, while both teams received two yellow cards each.
Looking ahead, the Rise will host the Calgary Wild on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will travel to face AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
