Although it wasn’t his fastest 200-meter race this season, he finished in 20.03 seconds, coming in behind Kenny Bednarek and Sinesipho Dambile. De Grasse’s last 200-meter race before this was on June 26 in Zagreb, Croatia, where he won in 19.95. He also won his season opener in Botswana with a time of 19.84. De Grasse set the Canadian record of 19.62 in the 2021 Olympic final in Tokyo.

At the meet in Eugene, Oregon, on September 17, 2023, Andre De Grasse became the Diamond League Trophy recipient, marking a significant achievement since Dylan Armstrong’s win in shot put 12 years earlier. In the 2019 Diamond League Final, De Grasse finished third, improved to second in 2021, and placed sixth in 2022.

The Diamond League Final in Belgium will feature De Grasse alongside other Canadian athletes like Marco Arop and Sarah Mitton. The men’s 200-meter field will include top performers like Dambile, Tebogo, Bednarek, and Charamba. Bednarek expressed satisfaction with his performance, emphasizing the importance of consistent progress throughout the season.
