The video showed clips of President Trump walking up to a podium to speak, with text from Grande’s 2024 hit track overlaid on the video. Grande responded in the comments, demanding that her music not be used again and calling out the administration’s “false truth.”
This incident follows Grande’s criticism in mid-June when her song “Bye” was used in a TikTok video related to immigration policy. Numerous artists, including Taylor Swift and ABBA, have also objected to the Trump team using their music in various contexts. Trump’s campaign has faced objections from artists like Neil Young, John Fogerty, Queen, the Rolling Stones, ABBA, Beyoncé, and others for playing their music without permission.
While political campaigns can purchase licenses to use music legally, individual artists have the right to opt out of having their music associated with specific causes or campaigns. Some artists, such as Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, have taken swift actions to have their music removed from Team Trump’s social media posts through copyright infringement claims.
