Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing charges of assault following a serious injury to a Winnipeg Sea Bears athlete earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the establishment on August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58 and employed at the venue, were apprehended and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, as per a police news release issued on Thursday. The specific nightclub was not disclosed, but it was situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
In a statement released by the team on Thursday, Allen mentioned that he has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recovering at home. He expressed that the assault should not have occurred and extended his determination to overcome the situation.
