The cost of a TV licence is set to increase once more, but if you no longer require one, you may be eligible for a refund. Currently priced at £174.50 annually, the fee will be raised to £180 starting in April. A TV licence is necessary for watching or recording live TV or accessing any content on BBC iPlayer.

If you solely view shows on streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, ITVX, Disney Plus, YouTube, All 4, or My5, excluding BBC iPlayer, you do not need a TV licence. However, having a TV licence is mandatory if you watch live programs through these services. Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to £1,000.

In case you no longer require your TV licence before its expiration, you may be entitled to a refund if there is at least one month remaining on it. Additionally, refunds are available for individuals eligible for concessions such as over 75 or blind benefits.
