The mother of a teenage girl from Florida who was tragically killed recently has spoken out following the apprehension of two teenage suspects. Danika Troy, 14, was found deceased in a wooded area near Pace, Florida, after her mother, Ashley Troy, reported her missing. A passerby discovered her burnt body with gunshot wounds. Gabriel Williams, 16, and Kimahri Blevins, 14, were arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder in connection to her death. The authorities suspect that the two teenagers planned the killing after a dispute during Thanksgiving break.
Ashley Troy, a devoted Baptist, expressed forgiveness towards the boys, referring to them as her daughter’s friends. She stated, “I don’t blame those boys. I blame evil influence, I don’t hate them, I hate what they did to my baby.” Despite her forgiveness, she emphasized the importance of holding them accountable under the law.
A candlelit vigil is scheduled to honor the teenager at her family’s church, Avalon Baptist Church in Milton. Ashley described her daughter as beautiful and deeply religious, hoping that her tragic loss would lead others to Christ. The church community has been providing support to the grieving family during this difficult time.
Following the discovery of Danika’s body, the police initiated an investigation and interviewed witnesses who claimed that Blevins admitted to planning the murder of Danika with Williams. Blevins confessed to officers after being read his rights, mentioning a falling out with Troy over Thanksgiving and blocking her on social media. Williams, after being questioned, confessed to police about his involvement in the crime.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson mentioned in a press conference that investigations are ongoing as the motives provided do not align with the evidence. He disclosed that Williams used his mother’s handgun to shoot Danika. Both teenagers are currently held at the Santa Rosa Juvenile Detention Center without bail.
