Crystal, the ex-wife of the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, revealed her harrowing experience of feeling trapped during her time at the Playboy Mansion. Their relationship began when Crystal was 21 and Hefner was 60. They tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2012, but their time together was cut short by Hefner’s passing at the age of 91 due to a sepsis-induced heart attack in 2017.

In her posthumously published memoir, Crystal shed light on the unsettling reality of life within the libertine lifestyle of the Playboy Mansion, a narrative echoed by several former Playmates. Numerous past Bunnies have spoken out about the challenging conditions they faced, including uncomfortable group encounters, the existence of secret sex recordings for potential extortion, and the degrading tasks required to maintain the mansion’s cluttered environment.

Former Playmates have shared their accounts of intimate moments with Hefner. Crystal described their encounters as lacking in passion, likening Hefner’s sexual prowess to that of inexperienced teenage boys she had known in the past. She detailed how she would play a specific Madonna song during their intimate moments to preserve the memory. Additionally, she portrayed the Playboy Mansion as a dilapidated and cluttered space, far removed from its glamorous facade.

On the Girls Next Door podcast, hosted by Hefner’s former girlfriends Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, the dismal state of Hefner’s bedroom was exposed. The room was described as chaotic, with porn playing on large screens while the lights remained off. Another former Playboy valet, Stefon Tetelbaum, recounted the unsanitary conditions she had to endure, including handling explicit items and catering to Hefner’s explicit demands.

Despite the disarray, Hefner maintained strict control over the mansion and its inhabitants. Reports suggest he kept detailed records in a “black book,” documenting the activities of each Playmate, including their financial compensation and intimate interactions with him. Those who did not meet his expectations were reportedly reprimanded. Surveillance cameras were reportedly installed throughout the mansion, capturing intimate moments without consent, which were then allegedly used for leverage.

Allegations of coerced group encounters and instances of uncomfortable pressure from Hefner have further tainted the image of the Playboy Mansion. Former Playmates recounted feeling exploited and degraded during such encounters, highlighting the distressing environment within the mansion. Reports of inadequate protection against sexually transmitted infections and the use of questionable practices to maintain hygiene have also surfaced, painting a troubling picture of life as one of Hefner’s companions.
