Apple has rolled out a crucial update for new iPhone users to address a wireless charging issue impacting some devices. The bug has been hindering wireless charging functionality, forcing affected users to resort to MagSafe for topping up their batteries.
Although Apple mentions that the problem has only affected a small number of users, it is recommended for all users to ensure their devices are updated.
Devices facing potential charging problems include the iPhone 17 series, comprising the Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the iPhone Air.
The update specifically targets an issue that inhibits wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly depleted, as explained by Apple.
Updating your device is a simple process. Navigate to Settings, select General, and then tap on Software Update. Look for iOS 26.5.1 and choose to update immediately or schedule it for nighttime when asleep.
Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection or ample mobile data as the update file is substantial at 13.6GB.
