UK households relying on Freeview for TV shows are advised to check and possibly retune their equipment following recent channel adjustments. While not a major overhaul, a quick retune will ensure that TVs are fully updated.
Freeview has confirmed that on May 20, 2026, some broadcasters will implement changes to their channels. Viewers are encouraged to retune their TVs to keep their channels and TV Guide current.
Among the changes, two channels have undergone name changes. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there have been shifts in channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to 62 and Great! TV +1 taking over channel 61.
Freeview emphasized that channel adjustments are part of the evolving content offerings on the platform, with individual providers deciding on channel movements. The platform remains committed to providing diverse and engaging content for audiences.
If viewers do not see the updates on their TVs, manual retuning may be necessary. To retune the TV, users should access the menu on their TV or set-top box remote, select options like “set-up” or “installation,” enter common passwords if prompted, choose a retuning option like “factory reset,” confirm channel deletions if required, and save any newly found channels during the scanning process.
