A tragic incident occurred during a family vacation where a mother and her two children passed away due to suspected poisoning. The Böcek family, consisting of the parents and their children, experienced symptoms of nausea and vomiting and were hospitalized for treatment.
Despite receiving initial medical care and being discharged, the family returned to the hotel only to find their three-year-old daughter, Masal, unresponsive. They were rushed to the hospital once again. Tragically, the young girl and her six-year-old brother, Kadir Muhammet, could not be saved. The mother, Çiğdem, also succumbed to the poisoning while in intensive care.
The family, who were German citizens residing in Hamburg, had arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 9 and were residing in a hotel in the Fatih district. Following the hospitalization of two other guests from the same hotel due to suspected poisoning, the premises were evacuated and secured.
Authorities have taken four individuals from the eateries the Böcek family visited into custody, along with the hotel proprietor and an employee from a pest control company. Investigations are ongoing into recent pest control activities conducted in a room on the hotel’s ground floor to determine the substances used.
The deceased mother and her children were laid to rest in Bolvadin, Afyonkarahisar Province, over the weekend. Meanwhile, Servet, the father, remains hospitalized in critical condition. The family’s plight has garnered attention, with Servet’s uncle emphasizing the need for justice for the tragic incident.
