A woman who had her nose bitten off by a dog has shared her journey of reconstructive surgery to restore her appearance. Jordan Wilson, 29, was attacked by a friend’s Boerboel, resulting in the complete loss of her nose. Over the past three-and-a-half years, she has undergone 16 surgeries, including using tissue from her forehead to create a new nose.
Despite the initial struggles of facing the world with her altered appearance, Jordan is now starting to feel more like herself. She reflects on the incident and its aftermath, emphasizing the shifting perspective she has gained on life and beauty.
The attack occurred while Jordan was visiting family members, leading to severe injuries and multiple surgeries to rebuild her face. Although the dog was deemed dangerous by the authorities, it was not put down, sparking mixed emotions in Jordan regarding the animal’s fate.
Jordan’s reconstructive journey involved intricate surgeries such as forehead flap surgery, where skin from her forehead was used to reconstruct her nose. Despite the challenges and ongoing surgeries to refine her nose, Jordan remains positive and shares her experiences online to raise awareness and support others facing similar traumas.
While she remains an animal lover, Jordan now approaches interactions with caution, especially when her children are involved. She aims to find meaning in her experience and uses her story to provide comfort and understanding to others coping with facial trauma.
