The union representing WestJet flight attendants has disclosed details of the tentative agreement reached with the Calgary-based airline following a one-day strike. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced that the deal includes an 18% wage increase over three years and introduces a new “duty period premium” for ground work compensation. Additionally, the agreement offers extended time off, enhanced food and uniform allowances, and other benefits.

WestJet flights across a significant portion of Canada were grounded during a long holiday weekend as approximately 4,400 flight attendants prepared to strike, which commenced early on a Sunday. However, a tentative agreement was reached between the airline and the union early the following Monday, leading to a gradual return to normal operations for WestJet.

The cabin crew members are scheduled to vote on the agreement in the upcoming weeks to finalize the terms.
