On a chilly January Friday, a woman contacted authorities to report her husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Fandrich, 56, missing after he failed to return home from work. Tanya informed the police that Kenny’s phone indicated it was still in the tech company’s multi-storey car park where he worked as a contract fitter. Expressing concerns due to her husband’s stalker, Tanya feared that something was amiss.

Prompted by Tanya’s call, the police and Tanya hurried to the car park in Portland, Oregon. They discovered Kenny in his car, appearing as if he was asleep, but upon closer examination, they found him lifeless. Tanya was devastated by the tragic sight.

The interior of Kenny’s black Honda Civic showed no signs of violence. His belongings, including his lunch box, keys, and phone, were neatly placed on the passenger seat. With minimal blood present, the question arose: had Kenny passed away from natural causes?

Despite initial speculations, an autopsy revealed that Kenny had succumbed to blunt and compressive trauma to the neck on January 27, 2023. Investigators delved into the security camera footage from the car park, uncovering a masked individual with distinct red mirror-tinted glasses and a hard hat vandalizing the cameras with blue paint that morning.

Reviewing the footage that remained untouched, authorities identified a suspicious vehicle believed to belong to the perpetrator. A maroon Dodge van without a front license plate was spotted parked next to Kenny’s car shortly before his arrival at 3:21 pm following his shift.

Although obscured by the blue paint, Kenny’s headlights flashed, suggesting he had unlocked his car using his key fob. Police theorized that the masked man had seized Kenny near his vehicle, transferring his body into the driver’s seat post-assault. The hunt for the maroon van became a top priority for law enforcement.

Additionally, security personnel at the crime scene disclosed a prior incident where a man, resembling the masked individual, had defaced the cameras a month earlier. The man, distinguished by a forehead crease, seemed consistent with the current suspect, albeit sporting different glasses. The motive behind Kenny’s death remained a mystery.

Tanya disclosed to the authorities that her husband had been tormented by a stalker, identified as her former employer, Dr. Steven Milner. Milner, a prosperous veterinarian known for his empathy towards animals and owners, had engaged in an affair with Tanya during her tenure as a vet tech at his clinic for nearly 19 years.

Following the affair’s revelation to Kenny in July 2017, Tanya terminated the relationship, departed from the clinic, and endeavored to reconcile with Kenny. However, Milner’s harassment persisted, escalating to threats and intrusive behavior towards Kenny, even leading to legal actions and protection orders.

Milner emerged as the prime suspect in Kenny’s homicide, ultimately facing charges of second-degree murder and stalking. Subsequent investigations unveiled Milner’s elaborate schemes, including using multiple vehicles with false identities to monitor and target Kenny.

Milner’s trial exposed compelling evidence linking him to the crime scene, leading to his conviction on charges of second-degree murder and stalking. Tanya’s poignant statement during sentencing underscored the devastating impact of Milner’s actions, condemning his obsessive and vengeful behavior.

Ultimately, Milner, once hailed for his compassion, received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years, transforming his legacy from benevolent veterinarian to a dangerous and obsessive perpetrator.
