Former Prince Andrew is facing criticism from US lawmakers for his lack of response as they intensify their investigation into the late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Stripped of his royal titles and preparing to leave his 30-room mansion Royal Lodge, Andrew has been urged by US politicians to provide testimony regarding his close relationship with Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges. Despite vehemently denying all allegations against him, Andrew has not responded to the House Oversight Committee’s request for an interview.

Although the committee lacks the authority to compel non-US citizens to testify, Democrats Robert Garcia and Congressman Suhas Subramanyam expressed disappointment in Andrew’s silence, emphasizing the importance of addressing the questions raised by the investigation. They vowed to pursue justice for the victims, regardless of the individuals’ wealth or status.

Following Andrew’s removal of royal titles by King Charles, Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir detailing her experiences with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell was published. Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual assault, reiterated her allegations in the book. Meanwhile, Donald Trump signed legislation allowing the release of Epstein files after facing pressure from Congress, ending months of resistance.

As Andrew prepares to move from Royal Lodge to a property on the Sandringham estate, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson faces an uncertain future. Reports suggest that she will not return to live with Andrew, and she is currently residing with him at Windsor. Despite their close relationship post-divorce, Sarah is under significant public scrutiny due to her association with Epstein. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich described Sarah as anxious about her future and facing public backlash for her connections.
