Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive a significant upgrade soon, providing access to a variety of bonus content. UKTV has announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will be accessible on Samsung screens, eliminating the need for additional devices.

The channels will be delivered via the internet, allowing viewers to easily access them without requiring a traditional aerial setup. In addition, Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it simpler for users to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows.

Later this year, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will also be directly accessible through Samsung’s Universal Guide into the U app. Samsung estimates that this rollout will reach millions of its TVs, with the channels appearing in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring that UKTV’s live and on-demand content remains prominently featured for viewers relying on internet-based TV.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, emphasized the strengthened partnership with Samsung, stating that the agreement will enhance accessibility to the U app and ensure visibility of UKTV’s diverse content across video-on-demand and live channels.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the importance of UKTV in Samsung’s entertainment offerings. He expressed Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the entertainment experience by providing access to a wide range of broadcast content through collaborations like this one.

Although an exact release date has not been disclosed, the new features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs in the near future, promising an improved viewing experience for users.
