President Donald Trump has shared that the initial phase of his 20-point peace plan to stop the conflict in Gaza is expected to be completed this week, emphasizing the need for swift action from all involved parties.

In a recent announcement, President Trump introduced the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” outlining a 20-point strategy that includes the release of all Israeli captives.

Hamas has shown willingness to support certain aspects of the peace proposal, such as freeing hostages and transitioning Gaza’s governance to Palestinian technocrats. The group has expressed readiness to engage in immediate negotiations, as confirmed in a statement.

Through his Truth Social platform, Trump disclosed positive discussions with Hamas and various countries worldwide, aiming to secure the release of hostages, bring an end to the Gaza conflict, and ultimately achieve peace in the Middle East. He highlighted the progress made in talks and urged swift action to avoid further violence.

Despite some areas of agreement, Hamas has not addressed demands related to disarmament and its role in Gaza’s administration, as reported by the Express US.

When asked about flexibility in the negotiations, Trump stated that while most parties have agreed on the plan, there may still be minor adjustments.

Hamas has agreed to transfer control of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian leaders, citing support from Palestinian and Arab communities for this decision.

The group emphasized that issues concerning Gaza’s future and the rights of Palestinians in Trump’s proposal are linked to a unified national position and international laws and resolutions.

While Trump declared Hamas’s readiness for lasting peace and called for an immediate halt to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, reports of casualties continued to emerge, with at least 66 deaths and 250 injuries reported within a 24-hour period.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, over 200 journalists and media personnel have lost their lives in Gaza since early October. Israel has restricted independent journalists from entering Gaza to verify these reports.
