Donald Trump has reacted to Team Europe’s teasing following their victory in the Ryder Cup on American soil. The European team fended off a late challenge from Team USA during the singles matches on Sunday to retain the trophy, marking their first win in the U.S. since 2012.

Led by Luke Donald, Team Europe secured a historic victory by defeating Team USA 15-13 at Bethpage Black in New York. Trump, a passionate golf enthusiast and native of the city, was present at the tournament on Friday, arriving via Air Force One to support the American team.

Despite Trump’s attendance, Europe dominated the competition, establishing a significant lead on the first day and extending it to seven points by the end of play on Saturday. The final day saw a spirited fightback from Team USA, led by Keegan Bradley, but Europe managed to secure the win amidst a tense atmosphere.

In a playful gesture, Team Europe’s players sent Trump a video message during the celebrations, with Rory McIlroy holding the camera as they sang, “Are you watching, Donald Trump?” Trump acknowledged the message on Truth Social, responding with congratulations.

The sportsmanship displayed by Trump was commendable, as he had also exchanged pleasantries with Donald during the event. Reflecting on the experience, Bradley, the USA captain, expressed admiration for Trump’s presence at the Ryder Cup, highlighting the memorable moments of the tournament.

While Bradley’s team struggled in the paired matches, they showcased individual talent in the singles matches, posing a challenge to Europe but ultimately falling short. The rivalry between Europe and the USA in golf continues to captivate fans, creating enduring legends and memories in the sport.

As the anticipation builds for future competitions between the two teams, the words of Tom Watson resonate: “The Ryder Cup creates idols. It creates legends. It creates memories that last.” The spirit of competition and camaraderie showcased in the Ryder Cup is truly unparalleled.
