A young police officer, Shanice Bennett, is facing a terminal prognosis after her breast cancer, initially dismissed by a doctor who deemed her “too young” for the disease, spread throughout her body. Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2023 at the age of 23, Shanice experienced a period of remission before the cancer resurged aggressively, metastasizing to her liver, lungs, and bones.

Despite her persistence in seeking medical attention due to a family history of cancer, Shanice’s concerns were brushed off by her GP before the cancer was eventually detected. Following rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a mastectomy, and lymph node removal, she achieved remission last year. However, the cancer’s recurrence manifested with debilitating symptoms, initially mistaken for fatigue, leading to a late-stage diagnosis.

Rushed to the emergency room with excruciating pain, Shanice was swiftly informed of her incurable stage 4 cancer. Shocked by the sudden turn of events, she had believed the pain was attributed to a slipped disc, presuming she would remain cancer-free until later in life. Shanice, now uncertain about her life expectancy, is embracing each moment by fulfilling her bucket list, which includes trips to various destinations and attending an Ariana Grande performance at the O2 arena in August.

Documenting her journey on TikTok and fundraising on GoFundMe to realize her aspirations, Shanice is determined to make the most of her time despite the uncertain future. Those wishing to support her endeavors can contribute through her GoFundMe page.
