Surrey County Council is providing assistance to hundreds of households by offering free supermarket vouchers valued at £300 through the Household Support Fund. The initiative aims to aid vulnerable families struggling to afford essential items. Residents of Surrey can access the support by applying for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme.
These vouchers, redeemable at various supermarkets like Aldi, Asda, Morrisons, and others, are available to Surrey residents over 18 years old with household savings under £2,000 on average over 90 days and an annual income below £27,007.50 before taxes. Applicants need to disclose their income details and benefits received, with monthly voucher applications opening, starting from February 3.
For those who miss the current application window, the next round begins on March 2. Other councils, such as Nottingham City Council and Wakefield Council, are also providing support in the form of vouchers to households in need. Nottingham City Council is distributing £100 vouchers to low-income individuals, while Wakefield Council is issuing food vouchers to households receiving council tax assistance.
Furthermore, Blackpool Council is offering energy help of £200 to eligible households of one or two people and £300 to households of three or more people facing financial hardship. To qualify for these benefits, applicants must demonstrate financial difficulties and provide recent bank statements for all household members.
