Keir Starmer emphasized that the evil of the October 7 attacks on Israel remains unchanged over time and pledged unwavering unity against those spreading hate towards the Jewish community in Britain.
On the second anniversary of Hamas’s deadly assault, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to bringing back hostages and securing a ceasefire in Gaza.
Following the recent synagogue attack in Manchester during Yom Kippur, Starmer condemned the rising antisemitism in the country, labeling it as a disgrace to the nation’s values.
Reflecting on the past two years since the tragic assaults by Hamas, Starmer highlighted the heinous nature of the events, including the brutal murder of Jews and the ongoing plight of hostages, some of whom are British citizens still in Gaza.
While promising relentless efforts to bring the hostages home, Starmer also acknowledged the escalating antisemitism faced by Jewish communities in the UK, exemplified by the recent terrorist attack in Manchester on Yom Kippur.
The Prime Minister affirmed the country’s stance against those fostering harm and hatred towards Jewish communities, stressing the importance of releasing hostages, providing aid to Gaza, and working towards a ceasefire for a lasting and just peace in the Middle East, ultimately aiming for a Two-State solution.
Starmer welcomed the U.S. initiative for peace in the region and assured that his government would spare no effort to create a future where all Israeli children can coexist peacefully with their Palestinian neighbors in safety and security.
