Sky customers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the TV provider is set to merge Sky Cinema Animation and Sky Cinema Family into a single channel on April 30. The move aims to streamline the service, offering a consolidated destination for family-friendly films on channel 304.

Following the update, viewers can look forward to finding popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place. While there will be one less channel to browse, all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.

Despite the removal of the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel, it will be brought back temporarily during school holidays to entertain kids. The channel will be available from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.

In addition to this channel merger, Sky has recently ventured into the home security market with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with a £15 upfront fee, offering features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customisable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking enhanced home security, Sky also provides a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 monthly and a £20 upfront charge. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app controls for scheduled arming and automatic device modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making premium smart technology more accessible. Sky’s focus remains on delivering valued features that are user-friendly, easy to manage, and cost-effective.
