A member of the Reform UK party, County Councillor Tom Pickup from Lancashire County Council, has been suspended following allegations that he suggested the party was concealing its strict stance on immigration. The suspension came after messages attributed to him were shared by Reform Party UK Exposed, indicating his apparent agreement with the concept of mass deportations.

In the exchanged WhatsApp messages where Pickup is referred to as “Tom,” he seemed to support the idea of implementing a more stringent immigration policy within the party, stating that a clear strategy on immigration would be unveiled soon. He noted the importance of tactical approaches in gaining support, mentioning that Reform party members generally hold stronger views on immigration than publicly acknowledged.

In response to these revelations, a representative from the Labour Party in the county criticized the comments as “despicable” and demanded explanations from Reform UK for allowing such viewpoints to be represented within the party. Reform UK has faced internal turmoil, having recently won a majority on Kent County Council but subsequently suspending nine councillors.

These developments coincided with allegations against Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, regarding racist and antisemitic remarks made during his school days, which he denies. Councillor Pickup welcomed the suspension and investigation, expressing a desire for the truth to come to light. Reform UK has been contacted for further comments on the matter.
