A suspect connected to the shooting death of a man in Niagara Falls on July 16 has been apprehended in Montreal and is set to be extradited to the Ontario city, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Identified as Josta MacNeal, the arrested individual faces a second-degree murder charge in the killing of 35-year-old Mitchell Snoddon. The police disclosed that Maaroof Bangi, previously known to be 23 years old, is still on the run.

As no firearm has been recovered yet, Bangi is considered armed and dangerous by the Niagara police.

A police news release advised the public not to approach Bangi if spotted and to immediately dial 911. The police urged Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender himself.

Earlier reports from the Niagara police stated that the incident took place at an apartment complex on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls around 9 p.m. ET on July 16, resulting in Snoddon being fatally shot.

The authorities believe the shooting was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence, although they urged caution among the public.

Previously, footage of the two suspects was released by the Niagara police, soliciting information from the community regarding their whereabouts.

Initially, the suspects were reported to be driving a 2022-2026 Nissan Rogue SUV. Later on, the police mentioned that the fugitives were last seen in a 2016 Toyota Camry in Hastings, Ont., with specific damages.

The police had recovered a Mazda CX5 earlier, believed to have been used by the suspects. Detectives suspect that the individuals may attempt to change their appearance to evade capture.

Individuals with information can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), as stated by the police.
