Fears are mounting for a British teenager who went missing from a hotel in Thailand, as his family worries that he may have been coerced into working at a fraudulent Chinese mafia facility with no means of escape.

The 19-year-old computer whiz, Lawrence Honour, was last seen leaving his lodging in Kanchanabur on September 26. Reports indicate that he attempted to cross into Myanmar but was turned away by border officials due to ongoing conflicts.

Authorities and his relatives are troubled that he might be held against his will in one of the call center factories run by Chinese syndicates. These establishments subject workers to grueling hours and abuse.

His family has made a heartfelt appeal to intensify efforts in locating him and bringing him back home. They fear that he may have fallen victim to a scam lure. Lawrence resides in Thailand with his mother, Gulnara, and his British father, Julian Honour.

Gulnara disclosed details of her son’s disappearance, expressing concern that he may have been deceived into visiting one of the deceitful centers in Myanmar after interacting with individuals online.

According to sources, Lawrence was intercepted while trying to scale a fence into Myanmar and was sent back. Witnesses mentioned seeing him hitchhiking that same evening before accepting a ride from a passerby. A frantic search ensued following these events.

Police Colonel Santi Phitaksakul, the superintendent of Sangkhlaburi district station, remarked on the situation, noting the mother’s persistent hope despite the uncertainties surrounding Lawrence’s whereabouts.

Efforts are underway to collaborate with Myanmar authorities in locating Lawrence, as sightings resembling him have been reported in the neighboring country. Various scenarios are being considered to understand his motives for traveling, with suspicions that he may have employed clandestine routes with external assistance.
