In a tragic turn of events, a mother of two was compelled to give testimony during her own trial for murder following a horrifying incident where her ex-boyfriend poured gasoline on her and set her on fire.

Judy Malinowski, who had a happy childhood, faced a harrowing battle with opiate addiction before her untimely death at 33 due to severe injuries sustained from the brutal attack. Previously active in beauty pageants, Judy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age, which she bravely fought off only for the disease to return later in her life.

Despite undergoing a hysterectomy to combat the cancer, Judy struggled with addiction issues, eventually resorting to seeking heroin on the streets after depleting her health insurance coverage. Throughout her ordeal, her family remained a steadfast support system by her side.

Her life took a tragic turn when she crossed paths with Michael Slager, a man with a criminal history, who rekindled her addiction by supplying drugs. The relationship spiraled into dependency, leading to the fateful confrontation at a petrol station where Slager set Judy on fire during an argument.

Despite sustaining critical burns covering 90% of her body, Judy miraculously survived the attack, although she slipped into a coma. Upon regaining consciousness, she recorded a poignant video testimony detailing the horrific incident, pleading for mercy from her assailant.

Judy succumbed to her injuries in June 2017, leaving behind her two daughters. Her courageous act of testifying through the video became a groundbreaking moment in the US legal system. In 2018, Michael Slager received a life sentence with no possibility of parole for his heinous crime.
