The Montreal Roses took swift action following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Sporting director Marinette Pichon made the announcement on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his foundational work with the professional women’s soccer club. The decision to make a coaching change was described as a necessary step to inject fresh energy into the team for the remainder of the season and future growth.
Despite currently holding the second spot in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have ten matches remaining in their regular season. Rositoiu had been appointed as head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will take over as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
